Liqueur

While historically gin has been required to have a predominant taste of juniper, a cohort of products has emerged that champion other flavours. Some are full-strength spirits, while others are sweeter, lower-ABV liqueurs.

The one and only gin-based liqueur in our selection, this product from Edinburgh Gin Distillery packs heaps of nostalgic flavours that, despite their sweetness, never overwhelm or cloy. To make the expression, Edinburgh Gin is infused with fresh rhubarb and ginger, which are steeped in the spirit for four weeks. Other botanicals include mulberry, orange and lemongrass.

Suggested serves: Goes perfectly in a Bramble, which also consists of full-strength gin, blackberry liqueur and lemon. It’s also delicious mixed with ginger beer, elderflower tonic, or lemonade, or simply sipped on its own over ice.

Tasting Notes

One sniff of this liqueur will instantly evoke the thrill of opening paper bag of old-fashioned rhubarb and custard sweets – it’s sweet, juicy, slightly sour, and very moreish. On the palate, a gentle sweetness carries flavours of cherry, lemonade and lavender, with a subtle kick of warm ginger rounding off the experience.
